Autumn Leaves You Falling for St. Ignace!

After Labor Day, St. Ignace blossoms into shades of magnificent color, and the trees begin to glow as the temperatures sneak downward. Upper Michigan features miles of trails and tree-lined roadways where vieweres can marvel at the wonders of nature and enjoy leisurely walks or drives in the woods.
Finding the right places to see is easy when you begin your adventure in St. Ignace -- start with an historic walking tour on the Huron Boardwalk; visit Marquette Mission Park and Marquette National Memorial; take a ferry boat to Mackinac Island; or just pack a picnic and take a seat on one of the many park benches in the downtown area or at Bridge View Park. As far as the eye can see, Michigan's Upper Peninsula shouts its color from its treetops and whispers its natural secrets in the wind.
Take a drive from St. Ignace north and east to the Les Cheneaux Island area -- called the Crimson Tour -- visit the little towns of Hessel and Cedarville, and then continue north to Sault Ste. Marie and experience the Soo Locks, Soo Locks Boat Tours, Soo Tour Trains, and the SS Valley Camp Museum (approx. 120 miles round-trip).
Unique landscape can also be found when you take the Gold Tour north to Paradise, or pick up the Toonerville Trolley and ride to Tahquamenon Falls, where trees and water blend for a one-of-a-kind autumn vision. Maybe your interests are in history and museums, so visit the Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point and the Luce County Historical Museum in Newberry (approx. 150 miles round-trip).
Take the Violet Tour for breathtaking Lake Michigan views and shoreline walks on the sandy beaches and cross the Cut River Bridge (closed for construction, but expected to be open mid-October), and even stop for awhile and experience the hiking trails along the river beneath this U.S. 2 highway bridge, and from there drive north on Highway M-117 toward Engadine in the heart of the Hiawatha National Forest for an approximate round trip of 115 miles.
Launch your trip to St Ignace, the site with the sights for every season!
