Canada lies to the north of the United States and you are very close when visiting the eastern Upper Peninsula. Sault Ste. Marie in the Canadian province of Ontario is the twin city to Sault Ste. Marie Michigan. Both Soos are along the St. Mary's River and are connected by the International Bridge. Taking I-75 north from St. Ignace is the quickest route and after the 55 mile drive, the freeway ends at the International Bridge. The bridge is a border crossing and it's easy if you're prepared. Documents may be required to enter Canada and return to the U.S.A. The process may include answering inquiries about what items are being brought in the country.
